If you have been following my Twitter (@WhiteSponge) or Facebook, you would know that there’s a 2nd character for Small Chronicles! Did I also mention that all characters have their own unique dialogues? On the other hand their stories are intertwined with one another.
Creating different dialogues for each character allows me to give all of them their individual character traits or personalities. I could potentially give the main character, Kon, a very masculine and brave personality by providing him lines such as “I will definitely protect you!”.
As with the story of Small Chronicles, Kon goes on an adventure searching for his sister, who has been abducted by unknown evil forces. Just from that line, it is possible to tell that Kon has a sense of justice, is brave and cares for his sister.
On the other hand, Lyea, the leading female character of Small Chronicles, has a not so straightforward personality. Although she does appear strong, she doesn’t really say things that she means. Oh and she can be cheesy at times when Kon isn’t around…
Now compare the 2 leading characters and you’ll see a stark difference in personality. It may be due to a gender difference but let’s not go into gender stereotypes. Hey it’s totally possible for me to give Lyea a very masculine personality just like Kon’s. But where’s the fun in that?Tweet
